On April 2, 2025, My Ride concluded a 30-day Public Comment Period to gather feedback on proposed service changes aimed at addressing ongoing operational challenges related to the electric bus fleetChanges are scheduled to start on Monday, April 21, 2025. Stop times may also shift due to the route changes. Plan to arrive early and check updated route times on the interactive map.

Limited access to necessary bus parts has impacted our ability to keep all full-sized buses in operation, requiring us to regularly use paratransit vehicles, limiting service reliability. Because these vehicles have reduced seating capacity and do not permit standing passengers, some riders have been unable to boardThe coming adjustments serve the purpose of reestablishing system reliability as a top priority of the My Ride transit system.

The feedback received during the public comment period focused on the following key areas: Route 1 Downtown Loop, the new Cherry Road/Dave Lyle Loop, Saturday service hours and funding. Each comment was carefully reviewed and helped inform the final adjustments to our bus service.

Route 1 Downtown Loop:

We received a significant amount of feedback regarding the removal of Route 1. While we understand that this change may be disappointing to some riders, we are unable to maintain this route and meet the primary goal of improving system reliability at this time.

Cherry Road/Dave Lyle Loop:

Much of the feedback we received has been incorporated in the final plan. Based on public input and recommendations from SCDOT, the changes will exclude the addition of the Cel-River/Celanese/Cherry Rd stop and continue servicing the stop near Lidl on Herrons Ferry Rd.

We also plan to adjust the stop near the Bethel Men’s Shelter. The existing inbound stop on Aragon St @ Curtis St beside Northside Baptist Church will remain as a temporary stop until we receive further feedback from Norfolk Southern.

Saturday Service Hours:

My Ride will implement an 8-hour service day on Saturdays from 9 AM to 5 PM. This adjustment will help ensure we can continue providing Saturday service while addressing operational needs.

Funding:

We have received several comments regarding funding for My Ride. While funding remains crucial to the success of the system, the recent service adjustments to services are primarily a result of ongoing fleet challenges, rather than from insufficient funding. At this time, the cost of implementing a fare system would outweigh any income generated due to the infrastructure costs associated with the new technology, equipment and accounting staff.
